Learning to Love
Video Animation
This video project was an opportunity for me to learn important video editing and animation skills, as well as create a piece that means a lot to me. I made "Learning to love" by writing the poem, illustrating the visuals, and using numerous animation techniques before editing it all together. This personal project embodies a journey of self love many individuals struggle with, including myself.

A parent, or two
They raised you, they claim to have made you
You are half of them after all,
So do you love who they made?
I am my mother.
Hard-headed and fierce.
She raised me to be like her.
Or is that really me?
A best friend, or two
They understand you, they claim to love you
You have the other half of their necklace after all,
So do you love who they make you?
I am sheltered.
Scared and lonely.
They taught me to feel that way.
Or is that really me?
Learning to Love
A partner, or two
They take care of you, they claim to need you
You are their other half after all,
So do you love who you are with them?
I am broken.
Traumatized and trying to love.
They showed me that’s what my love is.
Or is that really me?
A person, just you.
You’ve been there the whole time.
You are what makes you whole.
So do you love who you’ve become?
I am me.
Hard-headed, fierce, scared, lonely, traumatized, and trying to love.
I am learning who I am, learning to love who I’ve become.
So why can’t I love myself like I love them?
